Health and Wellness Centres ‘Arogyam’ to be developed in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi, July 04,2018 : All the Primary Health Centres and Urban Primary Health Centres/Civil Dispensaries will be developed as Health and Wellness Centres in 25 districts of Madhya Pradesh this year. These centres will be called Madhya Pradesh ‘Arogyam’ (Health and Wellness Centre). In the remaining districts, Health and Wellness Centres will be developed next year. Process to develop Sub-Health Centres will be continued continuously.

The State while moving ahead on the concept of Comprehensive Primary Health Care based on ‘Hub and Spokes’ Model has decided that first the Primary Health Centres should be made effective Referral Centres, where all the 12 kinds of identified services should be made available. The state has priority to provide tests and primary medical treatment for diabetes, hypertension, heart ailments, and cancer along with other services at these centres. Ayush medical treatment services are also being provided in PHC-Health and Welfare centres in Madhya Pradesh.

Currently, 25 districts of the state i.e. Rajgarh, Sehore, Betul, Raisen, Vidisha, Ashoknagar, Bhind, Guna, Sheopur, Badwani, Khandwa, Dewas Ujjain, Dindori, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Seoni, Shahdol, Satna, Anuppur, Singruali, Chhattarpur, Damoh and Panna have been included. Initially primary health centre wise gap assessment analysis has been conducted and accordingly availability of human resources is being ensured.

A work plan related to training of issues concerning important human resources like medical officers, staff nurses, ANM and ASHA has been chalked out. Constant advise will be provided for technical support to some Health and Wellness Centres of Vidisha district by the Akhil Bhartiya Ayurvigyan Sansthan, Bhopal. At the initial stage, State has a plan to begin these centres by upgrading 51 Primary Health Centres into Health and Wellness Centres from this month itself.
