Dehradoon, June 10,2018 :

Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat and Union Agriculture Minister Mr. Radha Mohan Singh, under the ‘Rashtriya Gokul Mission’ Yojana laid the foundation stone of the Sex Sorted Semen laboratory at Deep Frozen Semen Production Centre Shyampur, Rishikesh. The Sex Semen Center, established in Uttarakhand, will be the first such state institution in the country, where the technique of producing female calf through artificial insemination in animals will be developed. Its direct benefit would be to increase the milk production of the state animal keepers and double the income of the farmers.

Addressing the programme, Chief Minister said that Rashtriya Gokul Mission is to conserve the indigenous breeds of cow and enhance their milk productivity. Semen laboratory being set up in Rishikesh will play an important role. Through animal husbandry, the target of increasing farmers income can be achieved. The state government is trying to make such arrangements that by year 2021, cows should not be on roads but becomes source of livelihood of farmers. Some success has been achieved in increasing the milk productivity of Badri breed cows. Efforts are on to increase it further.

Chief Minister said that a convention centre of International level is being set up at Rishikesh. In order to bring Uttarakhand in the category of leading states of the country, state government is making efforts with all seriousness. Under PMGSY, the target is to construct more than 200-KM roads in the state. Uttarakhand has been honoured by the Indian government for Hill Government E-Market and Best Film Friendly State. In order to provide Internet facility in the remote areas, aerostat balloon has been successfully tested. Uttarakhand is the first state to use this technology.

Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Mr. Radha Mohan Singh said that for the welfare of the farmers, union government is dedicatedly working from the past four years. Because of the government efforts, more than 700 agricultural scientists in the country have come out of lab and reached the field level for the ground testing. He said that animal husbandry is the economic backbone of the villages. Despite our country being first in the field of animal husbandry, there is a lack of productivity here. Along with the annual growth rate, we have to lay stress on increasing production as well.

On this occasion, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Premchand Aggarwal, MP Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Minister of State for Animal Husbandry Rehka Arya and Minister of State for Higher Education Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat were present.
