Deeksha VidyaDaan students excel in Karnataka PU II exams

Students of Deeksha under the VidyaDaan scheme have excelled in the PU II examinations, the results of which were announced recently. The ‘VidyaDaan’ scheme is an initiative designed to provide quality education, free of cost, to meritorious students from economically challenged backgrounds across Karnataka. The students who have come out with flying colours in the Science stream are Prajwal, with an aggregate of 568, Santosh Kumar R. with 549, Rudresh, with 546, Karthik M., with 545 and Michael Augustine with 527.

Prajwal’s mother works in a garment factory and his father runs a provision store. He is a student of Chethana PU College, a unit of Deeksha network and has scored an impressive 96.4%. His preparation strategy included solving all the previous years’ question papers, along with referring to the Deeksha manual, question bank along with getting his doubts clarified by his teachers. His advice for future students is to work hard every single day to succeed.

Santosh Kumar R has received 91.5%. Despite losing his parents at an early age, Santhosh has never let personal hardships come in the way of academic success. Noted for his discipline, dedication, and participatory nature, Santhosh makes the most of every opportunity that comes his way. He has many talents – he can sketch, paint, and write poetry in Kannada. He is a student of Surana PU College, a unit of Deeksha network and is also always in the top 10 ranks in class. His future aspiration is to give back to society in some way.

Rudresh works as a newspaper hawker and performs other small jobs to support his mother alongside attending to his studies. Student of NTR PU College, a unit of Deeksha network he has scored 91%. While he faced initial difficulties in adjusting to an English medium college, he quickly established his academic merit and has consistently come 1st in class. In future, he aspires to become a doctor. Having lost his father at age 14 and being supported by his mother, Rudresh has come a long way.

Karthik, a student of Sri Venkateshwara PU College, a unit of Deeksha network has a score of 90.8%. His father is a farmer while his mother is a homemaker. At present, Karthik is helping his father while also preparing to write the NEET Exam. He aspires to become a Doctor. “When compared to other institutions that only give importance to studies, Deeksha stands out by encouraging us to participate in extracurricular activities too. This helps in our overall development and future career path. The weekly exams were helpful for me, and the teachers are always ready to clarify our doubts,” he said.

Michael Augustine, whose father is a gardener and mother, is a house-wife has scored 87.8%. Since they did not have enough finances, Michael did his initial schooling in a Government school. Through the VidyaDaan Programme, Michael can now see a future for himself. “At Deeksha, I was able to receive clear guidance on how, when, and what to study. My plan was to focus on the areas that needed improvement. The teachers are very motivating and supportive. I have learnt that everything depends on our perception. Hence, we must face life cheerfully and happily,” he said. Michael is a student of Whitefield Global School, a unit of Deeksha network.
