Depression is a multifactorial ‘medical illness or mood disorder involving the mind and body which negatively affects or adversely impacts the thoughts and actions of a person.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), depression is one of the main cause of deaths and/or disabilities, worldwide, second only to cardiac diseases. It can affect anybody, irrespective of age, gender, or socio-economic groups. Every year, approximately 8,00,000 people worldwide die due to depression or mental disorders.

The COVID–19 pandemic is a major health crisis affecting mankind in almost all countries across the globe. Such widespread outbreaks are associated with adverse mental health consequences as movements were restricted as a precautionary step to combat the novel coronaviruses infections.
