New Delhi, July 4, 2017: For the second year running, Department of Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences at Fortis Healthcare Ltd is organizing India’s exclusive Quiz competition on Psychology, aptly named as “PSYCH-ED”. This is designed for students from Class XI & XII and aims to test their knowledge of Psychology and allied sciences. The entire event has been conceptualized & led by Dr Samir ParikhDirector of Department Mental Health & Behavioral Sciencesat Fortis Healthcare. The online registration for participating in this quiz is an ongoing process and the last date to register would be July 25, 2017. The first round of PSYCH-ED, which is an online quiz, will be held on August 4, 2017.

Each participating school is required to nominate a team of three students from their senior secondary classes. The first round of the quiz will be conducted online within the premises of the school. The top ten qualifying schools from each of the six zones across India will be invited for Zonal Qualifying rounds. The Zonal Rounds will be held at Mumbai (16th August), Bengaluru (17th August), Delhi (21st August), Jaipur (22nd August), Kolkata (23rd August) and Mohali (26th August). The winning team from each zone qualify for the finale which is scheduled for the September 1, 2017 at the Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon.

Participants should gear up to step far outside their comfort zones, dig deep into their knowledge and understanding of the human mind and think on their feet. The Winner, First and Second Runners’ up teams will be awarded a cash prize of – Rs 50,000; Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Free Comprehensive Psychology internships for all six teams who reach finale will also be organized at any of the Fortis centers. The top three semi-finalists from each zone will also receive prizes by Brittanica.

Last year the quiz drew unprecedented interest, with participation from over a 1,000 students from 230 schools and junior colleges. Schools from Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and the National Capital Region participated. Two Indian schools from Singapore participated in the quiz as well. Schools from 49 cities took part in the Quiz.

Speaking on this unique initiative, Dr. Samir Parikh said, “This is a novel opportunity for students who to further their knowledge and understanding of the field.  Ultimately it will hone their ability to objectively create juxtaposition between theory and practicality. One of the main reasons behind the quiz is to make the people aware of the subject of psychology and its importance. This is very much the need of the hour as even today there are schools which will not offer psychology as an additional subject. This is our attempt to make psychology accessible, to make it relevant, and to make it fun!”

The Title sponsor for the quiz is G.D. Goenka University, the associate sponsor is WayForward , knowledge partner being Britannica
