Acknowledging the role of the healthcare community in continued wellbeing of Indians, the Integrated Health and Wellbeing (IHW) Council has awarded leading names from the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry at the second edition of the Guardian of Health Awards 2021.
Gagan Singh, Managing Director, AstraZeneca Pharma India received the award for his contribution in public health and public affairs while Prof (Dr.) J.A. Jayalal, National President, Indian Medical Association (IMA) received the award for his contributions and distinguished achievements in the field of Laparoscopy.
Dr Ashok Kumar Vaid, Chairman, Medical and Haemato Oncology, Cancer Institute Medanta – The Medicity was honoured for his exemplary work and expertise in clinical research in the field of oncology. Prof (Dr.) Ashok Seth, Chairman, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi was awarded for his remarkable contributions in the field of Cardiology while Padma Shri Dr Harsh Mahajan, Founder and Chief Radiologist, Mahajan Imaging was awarded for making significant strides in the fields of radiology and immunology.
Dr Firuza Parikh, Director, Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai was honoured for her contribution in the field of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics while Mr Vishwanath Swarup, Chief Operating Officer, Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited was recognised for his efforts to navigate the healthcare value chain in emerging markets.
“The Guardian of Health Awards 2021 is our humble effort to recognise the contribution of exemplary leaders and all those who are protecting, restoring and promoting health and wellbeing of Indians amid the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19. It is the last leg of our mega initiative ‘Gratitude Week’ that we began last year on National Doctor’s Day and hosted the second edition this year as a platform where people can express their feelings and gratitude to doctors. I thank you all for always being there for us,” says Kamal Narayan, CEO, IHW Council.
These honours are part of the 2nd Gratitude Week, the 7 day long national thanksgiving for doctors and healthcare workers that begins on National Doctor’s Day (1st July, 2021). IHW Council had instituted the Gratitude Week in 2020 as a tribute to health workers who became the first line of defence for people during the pandemic. IHW Council celebrated this week with a 60-hour long marathon virtual event comprising over 25 sessions, and participation of more than 100 doctors, nurses, leaders of business and pharma communities, medical devices and diagnostic industries as well as researchers and scientists, social influencers, performers, and children.
IHW Council, a premier think tank that advocates for a healthy world through multilateral stakeholder engagement, has been at the forefront of advocating health for all.
