Onkar Singh Pahwa, CMD of Avon Cycles Ltd, has been honoured with the “Distinguished Entrepreneur Award” by Hon’ble speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla during PHDCCI’s 117th annual session 2022 held on 30th September 2022 at Hotel Taj Palace New Delhi.

Avon cycles Ltd.one of the largest player in the Indian bicycle industry, churning out 2.5 million bicycles every year. Company has a strong market presence in the country with a network of 1500 dealers spread across India and also exports substantial numbers of bicycles to Africa, Sri Lanka and parts of Europe. Avon currently has an exhaustive range of over 200 products for all segments of consumers.

As a Management Trainee, Pahwa joined the family business, took over the export function’s setup, and was instrumental in starting export to Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.

He has taken part in more than 40 trade shows on several continents, increasing the reach of his business abroad and elevating it to the third-largest bicycle brand in India. By launching Electric Scooters and Rickshaws under the brand name E-World Of Avon and introducing Avon Fitness Machines to the market in 2015, he expanded his vision into Electric Mobility.

He has been generously contributing to society and built a hospital in memory of his late mother. Mata Kaushalya Devi Pahwa charitable hospital in Ludhiana’s neighbourhood, providing free health care facilities to the economically weaker sections.

He gets personally involved in providing financial support to budding sports persons, differently-abled persons. He’s passionate about providing sanitation and clean drinking water facilities in schools.

Recently he has been honoured with the “Udyog Ratna Award” by Hon’ble Vice President of India, M.Venkaiah Naidu on the occasion of 69th annual Convocation ceremony of Punjab University Chandigarh.
