Jaypee Hospital Reaffirms its commitment on world patient safety day

Jaypee Hospital reiterates its mission to improve the health and quality of life of patients by commemorating Patient Safety Day on September 17. Marked by the World Health Organization (WHO), countries and international health community, the overall objectives of World Patient Safety Day is to enhance global understanding of patient safety, increase public engagement in the safety of health care and promote global actions to enhance patient safety and reduce patient harm.Speaking about the significance of World Patient Safety Day, Dr. Manoj Luthra, CEO, Jaypee Hospital said, “This day gives us the opportunity to express our strong commitment to patients and their safety. Being a healthcare provider, we are conscious of the critical role we play and our obligation to patients.”

Echoing the mission of Jaypee Hospital, Dr Anil Kumar, COO, Jaypee Hospital said, “The principles of enhancing patient safety are implemented in each step. Patient safety highlights the importance of preventing or reducing the risks, errors, and avoidable harm suffered by healthcare patients. Patient safety has always been our priority and hence we emphasis on the need to be vigilant, agile, meticulous and precise in quickly identifying safety concerns from the huge amount of information.”

In a weeklong celebration, employees of Jaypee Hospital were reminded about their individual and collective responsibility to patients; importance of strong collaboration within departments and between employees. Below are the details of the event flow:

12th Sept, 2022: Inauguration, lamp lighting and talk on medication safety by Prof. (Dr) Rupa Mazumder (Professor and Dean, HOD Pharmaceutics, President, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) – MoE | Innovation Cell, NIET Pharmacy Institute).

13th Sept, 2022: Talk on Patient safety by Dr Girdhar Gyani (Director General of Association of Healthcare Providers, India, Ex Secretary General, Quality Council of India).

14th Sept, 2022: Poster Presentation and Panel Discussion by

·        Dr Prashant Pandey (Director, Department of Transfusion Medicine, Histocompatibility and Molecular Biology, Jaypee Hospital)

·        Dr Kavita Vurity (Head of Human Resources, Jaypee Hospital)

·        Dr Indiraw Rani (Chief Nursing, Jaypee Hospital)

·        Dr Sarbani Mukherjee (Head of Quality, Jaypee Hospital)

15th Sept, 2022: Talk on administration and monitoring of medication by Dr Latha Venkatesan (Professor cum principal at college of nursing AIIMS, New Delhi, India).

16th Sept, 2022: Talk on different aspects of patient safety in hospital by Dr Sarbani Mukherjee (Head of Quality, Jaypee Hospital).

Activity on Infection control by Dr Suryasnata Das (Associate Director, Microbiology, Department of Lab Medicine, Jaypee Hospital).

17th Sept, 2022: Talk on medication safety at home with attendants of patients in ICU by Dr Sarbani Mukherjee (Patient Safety Officer of Jaypee Hospital). Prize distribution to staff for the different activities conducted during the week followed by closing ceremony.
