1. Prescribe fluoroquinolones only when absolutely necessary. 20% of prescriptions are written for uncomplicated urinary tract or respiratory infections that do not require antibiotic treatment.

2. WRIC has linked quinolones to tendon ruptures, nerve damage and psychological problems.

3. FDA black box warning advise the quinolones should be reserved for patients where no other treatment options exist

4. Quinolones drugs are strong enough to kill anthrax.

5. A new study in the Journal Vaccine by health researchers from India, France and Germany has found that a single dose of Human Papillomavirus vaccination, against cervical cancer, provides lasting protection just as the two or three-dose regimen. 

6. A shortage of pathologists for proper diagnoses is inhibiting progress on universal health coverage, a new Lancet series has highlighted. They estimate there is just one pathologist for every one million patients in sub-Saharan Africa, a ratio 50 times lower than in high-income countries. China, with one pathologist for every 130,000 patients, needs extra 70,000 pathologists to reach levels similar to the UK or US.

16.  Low-dose naltrexone holds promise for treating chronic pain associated with a wide range of conditions, including fibromyalgia and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome [UAB]

17. IMA Cycle Yatra Update

From Kanyakumari to Delhi the cycle yatra started on 12th Jan and will reach Delhi on 24th March and they will join Doctors’ Mahapanchayat on 25th March. The Team members are Dr Noel Britto- Secretary IMA Cycling Club, Mr Sanjay Soni and Mr Aamir Khan

From Kolkatta to Delhi the Cycle Yatra started on 17th March and they will also reach on 24th to Delhi on 24th March. The team members are Mr Shubham Shankpal and Mr Manish Shinde.

From Mumbai to Delhi the cycle Yatra started on 18th from Mumbai and they will also reach Delhi on 24th March. The team members are Dr Chinmay Shah, Dr Darshan Shukla, Dr Yash Dave, Dr Brijesh Suthar and Dr Deep Shah.

From Amritsar to Delhi and it will start on 21st March and they will reach Delhi on 24th March

The team members are Mr Gaurav Wadge and Mr Chaube
