771468 registered AYUSH Doctors currently working across the country: Shri Shripad Yesso Naik

New Delhi, April 9,2017 : The total number of registered AYUSH Doctors working across the country is 771468.    The Government of India approved and notified Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) on 29.09.2014 which envisages better access to AYUSH services; strengthening of AYUSH educational institutions, facilitate the enforcement of quality control of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani & Homoeopathy (ASU &H) drugs and sustainable availability of ASU & H raw-materials by promotion of medicinal plants in the States/UTs during 12th Plan. Under NAM, the Government of India provides financial assistance to the States/UTs to develop and promote AYUSH system of medicine in the country, State/UT-wise.

 Ministry of AYUSH has taken various initiatives under the International Education and Communication (IEC) Scheme for propagation and promotion of AYUSH systems for treatment of common ailments through various media channels and other publicity activities like organizing  Arogya  fairs, conferences, seminars on AYUSH System.

This information was given by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Shri ShripadYesso Naik in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.
