Delhi government is building 11 new hospitals

To provide world-class healthcare services to each and every resident in the capital, the Delhi Government under the leadership of CM Arvind Kejriwal is working on a war footing. In this direction, the government is building 11 new hospitals in Delhi, which will increase the number of hospital beds in Delhi Government hospitals by 10,000 beds. In this regard, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, on Monday, held a review meeting with the officials of PWD and the health department and reviewed the progress of construction works. Along with this, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the officials to complete the construction work of hospitals being built at Siraspur, Jwalapuri, Madipur, Hastsal (Vikaspuri) as well as 7 new semi-permanent hospitals with the capacity of 6838 hospital beds.

While directing the officials, the Deputy Chief Minister said that all these construction works should be completed on time and all quality standards should be ensured here. He added that the aim of the Kejriwal Government is to provide better health facilities to all Delhi citizens. In this direction, the new hospitals being built by the government will prove to be a milestone and will work to augment the resources for healthcare services in the capital.

Construction of 11 new hospitals to be completed soon

During the meeting, officials said that construction work of most of the hospitals will be completed by the end of this year, whereas others will be completed by the mid 2023. To ensure the completion of hospitals in time, the Deputy Chief Minister is reviewing the progress every 15 days.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “These 11 hospitals include 4 hospitals with a capacity of 3237 beds and 7 semi-permanent ICU hospitals with a capacity of 6838 ICU beds. These will prove to be helpful in fighting with situations like the COVID pandemic and emergency cases efficiently. These new hospitals will give a boost to Delhi’s health infrastructure and millions of Delhiites will be able to avail world-class healthcare facilities.” He said that the Delhi government under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is committed to providing better facilities to every citizen of Delhi. Making Delhi’s health infrastructure world-class and providing excellent health facilities to every citizen of Delhi has been our priority right from the very first day of coming to the government.

4 new state-of-the-art hospitals in Delhi with the capacity of 3237 beds

The Delhi Government is building 4 new hospitals with state-of-the-art facilities in Jwalapuri, Madipur, Hastasal and Siraspur. Of these, the 11-storey hospital at Siraspur will have the capacity of 1164 beds, while others will have the capacity of 691 beds each. Hospitals in Jwalapuri, Madipur and Hastsal will have 10 storey buildings each. Construction of these hospitals will be completed soon.

7 new ICU hospitals across Delhi with the capacity of 6000+ beds

To deal with the emergency and critical cases, the Delhi government is coming up with 7 new ICU hospitals across the capital. These hospitals will have a capacity of 6838 beds and will be semi-permanent. Under this project, the government will build a 4-story hospital in Shalimar Bagh with a capacity of 1430 beds, a 5-story hospital at Kirari with a capacity of 458 beds, a 4-story hospital at Sultanpuri with a capacity of 527 beds, a 5-story hospital at GTB complex with a capacity of 1912 beds. It is constructing a 5-story hospital with a capacity of 610 beds at Chacha Nehru Children’s Hospital in Geeta Colony, a 5-story hospital with a capacity of 336 beds at Sarita Vihar and a 4-story hospital with a capacity of 1565 beds at Raghuveer Nagar.

ICU hospital in Sarita Vihar to have state-of-the-art facilities

It is to be noted that the new ICU hospital being built in Sarita vihar, with a capacity of 336 ICU beds, will have state-of-the-facilities including a waiting area with high capacity, registration room, electric room, staff room, emergency room, nurse station, fire control room on the first floor. It will also have the facility for CT scan, X-ray, diagnostic reception, pharmacy, ward area and mortuary. The second floor of the hospital will have a waiting area, pharmacy, cafeteria, HHU room, ward area, nurse station, etc. The third floor will have a scrubbing changing room, locker room, sample collection room, record room, cold storage room, lab, dining area for doctors and staff, blood bank, etc. The fourth floor will have OTs and HHU rooms etc. The hospital will have metal-insulated panels and glass walls. Movement in the patient corridor area will be through a double-door vestibule.

The entry and exit of medical care staff and non-technical staff shall be separate from the entry point of patients. There will be a separate corridor for the movement of patients and medical care staff and a separate supply corridor.
