We have shared all of our clinical trial documents with AYUSH ministry,Govt of India, as requested. The ministry has also categorically agreed that Patanjali Research Foundation has appropriately worked on COVID-19 management. Now there is no difference of opinions between Ayush Ministry and Patanjali.
As per the AYUSH ministry, Patanjali is allowed to manufacture and distribute its Divya Coronil Tablet, Divya SwasariVati and Divya AnuTaila across India, as per the manufacturing licences granted by State Licencing Authority, Ayurvedic and Unani services, Govt of Uttarakhand.
Ayurvedic drug licences and control clinical trials are two different streams. All the manufacturing and distribution licences for Ayurvedic medicines are granted on the basis of their reported traditional usages. Clinical studies are than conducted on those medicines, in some cases. On the similar way, Patanjali’s Divya pharmacy have taken the licence approval for Divya Coronil Tablet and Divya Swasarivati on their traditional reported usages, and have now connected those with the modern research based clinical findings.
Patanjali Research Institute, Haridwar and NIMS University, Jaipur has jointly conducted randomised, placebo-controlled double-blinded clinical trials on COVID-19 positive patients. This trial was approved by Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) and duly registered at Clinical Trial Registry – India. The positive outcomes of this clinical trial were disclosed to the nation o 23rd June 2020. In this trial, 95 patients (in 15-65 years’ age range, male – female both, asymptomatic, mild to moderate) participated on the written consent basis. 45 patients were treated with Patanjali medicines and rest 50 patients were given placebo formulations. The COVID-19 patient group that received Patanjali medicines, showed 67% recovery in 3 days and 100 % recovery in 7 days of treatments, that is, all 45 patients become COVID-19 negative. In addition, blood serum levels of C-reactive proteins (CRP), Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and TNF-alpha cytokines were also detected to be significantly lower in Patanjali medicine treated COVID-19 recovered patients, than the placebo group.This was the first and foremost clinical control trial of ayurvedic medicines on COVID-19 positive patients. We are now moving in the direction of multi-centric clinical trials for the same aetiology.
To establish Ayurveda as evidence based medicinal system, we have been resolutely conducting in-depth research at Patanjali Research Institute. We have successfully completed in-vivo preclinical research on hypertension, cardiac diseases, diabetes, arthritis, liver and skin ailments, Dengue and chikungunya like viral diseases along with learning and memory enhancement, in various animal models. We have embarked upon the detailed clinical trial based investigations of these diseases, as well. This is a matter of utter pride and honour for Ayurveda and Indian traditional knowledge based sciences.

Some of the medicine-mafia, opponents of indigenous and nationalism may unsuccessfully try to malign us, or pelt several such stones on us.We are firmly determined to use those stones to sculpt the path of our success and reach to our destinations.
On one side, we dream of building our country a world leader and global power of knowledge; vocalise the local to make it global, and become self-sustained India. On these larger goals, when Patanjali, Swami Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna and Patanjali’s senior scientists devoting their efforts for a selfless service to the nation, some people are abusing and filing FIRs to misalign us; and burning themselves in the prejudice, jealously and mistrust. This does not go well with a civilised society and cultured nation. We should keep some compassion for the patients who are suffering and dying from Corona and other deadly diseases. Patanjali has been in the service of nation, in its full might without getting affected by these baseless criticisms, and would continue doing so. Truth always triumphs; dedicated services to the mankind and to the nation is our ultimate religion and concept of our existence.
